A member of the House of Representatives, Blessing Onuh, has thrown her weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid after accepting a leadership role in a pro-Tinubu campaign organisation ahead of the next general election.
Onuh is the daughter of former Senate President David Mark and also the daughter of the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Her decision to identify with a pro-Tinubu political structure has attracted attention within political circles, given her family’s connection to the opposition party.
Onuh was appointed National Woman Leader of the Take Action Campaign Organization, a group mobilising support for the president’s potential re-election.
The Director-General of the organisation, Tony Nwulu, announced the appointment and presented her with an official letter at the group’s campaign office.
The organisation says it is focused on promoting the achievements of the Tinubu administration and educating Nigerians about the government’s ongoing reforms.
Speaking after accepting the role, Onuh pledged to mobilise grassroots support for the president, particularly among women.
“I am committed to ensuring victory for President Bola Tinubu by engaging women across the country and highlighting the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” she said.
Her appointment places her at the forefront of efforts to mobilise female voters nationwide, a key voting bloc in Nigeria’s electoral landscape, as political groups begin early preparations for the next election cycle.
