A market survey conducted at Aliade Market in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State has recorded prevailing prices for several food commodities, including soybeans, groundnuts, garri, maize, yam and tomatoes.

The survey, conducted on Monday despite heavy rainfall, provides a snapshot of prices being offered by traders in the market. According to the survey data compiled by MC Oliver Nyikyaa, prices may vary depending on the quality of produce, quantity purchased and individual bargaining power.

A bag of soybeans was reported at ₦95,000, while fresh groundnuts were selling for about ₦60,000 per bag. Dry groundnuts were priced lower at approximately ₦50,000 per bag.

Garri was recorded at ₦28,000 per bag, while a bag of maize was selling for about ₦45,000. Guinea corn was reported at ₦50,000 per bag.

For other commodities, a basket of tomatoes was selling for approximately ₦9,000, while 100 tubers of yam were reported at ₦100,000.

The survey also recorded a bottle of red oil at ₦1,700. A bag of akpu was reported within a range of ₦1,000 to ₦1,500, although the specific quantity or size represented by the quoted range was not stated in the survey.

The figures provide an indication of market conditions in Aliade but should not be treated as fixed prices across Benue State. Agricultural commodity prices can differ between markets and may change based on supply, season, transportation costs, product quality and demand.

Aliade Market serves communities within and around Gwer East and remains an important point for the buying and selling of agricultural produce and food commodities.

The latest survey is part of ongoing efforts to document local market prices and provide residents, farmers, traders and consumers with useful information on the cost of essential commodities.
