An alleged confrontation between two men reportedly known in parts of Logo Local Government Area as suspected members of rival criminal groups has left one man seriously injured in Tse Orkighir village, Mbavuur Council Ward, Benue State.

The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday, according to accounts from community sources who said the two men, identified by their aliases as Abagu, also known as “Konyo Boy,” and Swaga, known as “Chen Boy,” had previously worked together before their relationship reportedly deteriorated.

Sources said the latest confrontation followed a period of tension between the two men.

According to the accounts, Swaga and members of his group allegedly came into the community after locating Abagu. The sources claimed that Swaga, who was said to have knowledge of Abagu and his activities, warned members of the group against using firearms, allegedly telling them that shooting him would not be effective.

The group allegedly resorted to other objects, including a pistol reportedly used as a blunt weapon and bricks, during the attack.

Community sources claimed Abagu was struck from behind and sustained serious injuries. Blood seen at the scene was said by the sources to have come from the injured man.

Abagu was reportedly rushed to a hospital for treatment. However, sources said he later left the hospital and could not immediately be located.
The circumstances surrounding his departure from the hospital could not be independently established.

Residents familiar with the incident have reportedly identified the area as a location where tensions involving suspected criminal elements have previously been a concern. Some sources also claimed that people in nearby Ugba community are familiar with both men and their alleged activities.

However, Benue Info-pedia could not independently verify the identities, criminal status, affiliations or previous activities attributed to the two men at the time of publication.

It is also unclear whether the incident has been formally reported to the police or whether any arrests have been made in connection with the alleged attack.

The incident highlights continuing concerns about violent disputes involving individuals suspected of belonging to criminal groups in some rural communities across Benue.
Residents with credible information about the incident are encouraged to provide it to the relevant security authorities rather than taking matters into their own hands.

Benue Info-pedia will update this report if credible information becomes available from the police, community authorities, medical personnel or other verifiable sources.
