A social media activist from Benue State, Zege Orkwande Sughnen Yaaya, has publicly issued a six-hour ultimatum to an Abuja-based woman, Maureen Angough, over allegations of human trafficking.

The activist, in a series of posts circulating online, claimed that Angough had reached out to apologise following earlier accusations. However, he insisted that the apology alone was insufficient, outlining conditions she must meet before he would consider “letting her go.”

According to him, the conditions include making a public video apology to the people of Benue State for alleged involvement in human trafficking, providing contact details of individuals in Ivory Coast allegedly linked to the operation, and disclosing the total number of girls reportedly trafficked.

He further demanded that the accused facilitate the return of the affected victims back to Benue State.
“If she meets up the above conditions, let’s give her a second chance. I’m giving her six hours from now,” the activist stated, adding that the countdown had begun.

In earlier claims, the activist alleged that Angough, who is reportedly based in Abuja, had trafficked no fewer than 20 girls from Benue State to Ivory Coast and other African countries. He also claimed to possess evidence to support the allegations.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the accused, and the claims have not been independently verified by authorities.

Human trafficking remains a significant concern in Nigeria, with law enforcement agencies and organisations such as the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) continuing efforts to combat the crime.
