The All Progressives Congress on Wednesday commenced the distribution of election materials for the Benue State House of Assembly primary elections at its state secretariat in Makurdi.

The exercise, which reportedly began at about 11:12am, is being supervised by a committee deployed from Abuja ahead of the primaries expected across Benue State constituencies. During the process, stakeholders also renewed calls for inclusive participation in politics.

The All Progressives Congress has commenced the distribution of election materials for the Benue State House of Assembly primary elections at the party’s state secretariat in Makurdi.

The distribution exercise reportedly started at about 11:12am on Wednesday as preparations intensified for the conduct of Assembly primaries across Benue State.

According to party officials at the venue, the process is being supervised by members of a committee deployed from Abuja to oversee the House of Assembly primary elections in the state.

Party officials, aspirants, stakeholders and supporters gathered at the secretariat as the distribution of materials got underway ahead of the scheduled primaries across the state’s constituencies.

Speaking during the exercise, the leader of Persons With Special Needs (PWSN) in Benue State, Hon. David Aondofa, commended the conduct of the process and called on persons with disabilities to actively participate in democratic activities.

He stressed the importance of inclusive political participation and urged members of the disability community to remain engaged in governance processes aimed at strengthening democracy and promoting good governance.

The Benue State House of Assembly primaries are expected to produce candidates for the party ahead of subsequent electoral activities in the state.
