The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga, has reportedly obtained nomination and expression of interest forms to contest for the Makurdi North State Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.
According to information circulating on Friday, May 1, 2026, the forms were picked up at the All Progressives Congress (APC) state secretariat by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Orshoja Yonguka, acting on his behalf.
While the development signals a possible early move toward the next electoral cycle, there has been no official statement yet from the Speaker or his media office confirming the intention to re-contest.
Similarly, the Benue State chapter of the APC has not issued a formal confirmation regarding the release or collection of nomination forms linked to the 2027 elections.
Political observers note that early positioning ahead of election cycles is not uncommon, though formal declarations are typically made closer to party primaries.
As of press time, efforts to reach relevant party officials and aides to the Speaker for confirmation were ongoing.
