A well-known provision store owner and businessman, Agi John Ode, popularly called Ode Obusa, has died in Benue State after a sudden medical emergency. He reportedly collapsed at home shortly after returning from his shop in Oju Local Government Area.
He was later rushed to hospital and referred to Otukpo, where he eventually passed away despite medical intervention.

A popular Igede businessman, Agi John Ode, widely known as Ode Obusa from Ainu Obusa in Oju Local Government Area of Benue State, has died following a sudden health emergency.

According to family accounts, the deceased had attended to his business at his provision store and beer outlet on Saturday and closed for the day without assistance. He reportedly returned home around 10pm before collapsing shortly after.

His wife is said to have quickly alerted neighbours, and he was first taken to the General Hospital in the area before being referred to the General Hospital in Otukpo due to the severity of his condition.

Medical personnel at Otukpo reportedly placed him on oxygen support as he struggled to breathe. Despite efforts to stabilise him, he was confirmed dead around 11pm the same night.

Following his death, concerns have emerged within sections of the community, with some family and associates expressing suspicion over the sudden nature of his collapse after returning from his shop. However, no official medical confirmation has been made regarding the cause of death at the time of filing this report.

Medical officials are yet to issue a detailed statement on the incident.

The late businessman was known within the Oju and Igede business community for his provision store and beer distribution activities.
