Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is scheduled to visit Benue State on Tuesday as part of activities under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI). The visit will include women empowerment engagements, the commissioning of key infrastructure projects and the inauguration of a community ICT centre.

State officials say the visit is aimed at strengthening support for women, families and vulnerable groups while showcasing ongoing development projects in the state.

Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will visit Benue State on Tuesday under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), a programme focused on empowering women, supporting families and improving the welfare of vulnerable citizens across the country.

The visit was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hyacinth Alia, Mr. Tersoo Kula.
According to the statement, Mrs. Tinubu, who serves as the National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, will engage with women and beneficiaries of the programme during her stay in the state.

Governor Hyacinth Alia described the planned visit as a demonstration of cooperation between the Federal Government and the Benue State Government in promoting the welfare of citizens, particularly women and families.

A major feature of the visit will be the commissioning of 10 newly completed intra-city roads in Makurdi. The roads form part of more than 45 roads reportedly constructed by the current administration.

The projects cover approximately 11.5 kilometres and are expected to improve transportation, support economic activities and enhance access within the state capital.

The roads listed for commissioning include Ishaya Bakut Road (Dual Carriageway), three connecting spurs, Abu King Shuluwa Road, Mama Mbateren Alia Street, Dabo Plaza to Fashion Hub Road, Sir James Iorpuu Street, Tyagher Gbaa Street and Jato-Aka Road.

The First Lady is also expected to visit Ihugh, where she will inaugurate and hand over a community Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre intended to improve digital access and learning opportunities for residents.

Speaking ahead of the event, Mrs. Scholastica Bensor, Benue Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady and State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, said preparations had been completed for the programme.

She noted that women across the state were looking forward to the visit and called on residents, community leaders and support groups to participate in the activities.

According to Bensor, the visit is expected to reinforce ongoing efforts aimed at empowering women and advancing sustainable development across Benue State.
