The Benue State Government has confirmed the death of its Head of Service, Dr. Agbogbo Ode. He reportedly died after a brief illness, with the announcement made on Saturday, May 2, 2026. His passing has drawn tributes from government officials and civil servants across the state.

The Benue State Government has announced the death of its Head of Service, Dr. Agbogbo Ode, in what officials describe as a significant loss to the state’s civil service.

In a statement issued on Saturday, May 2, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Serumun Deborah Aber, the government said Dr. Ode died after a brief illness. His death was described as sudden, throwing the state civil service and the wider public into mourning.

The government paid tribute to the late official, describing him as an “impeccable technocrat” and a highly respected administrator. According to the statement, Dr. Ode was known for his professionalism, dedication, and commitment to strengthening governance systems in the state.
“His hard work, brilliance, and immense contributions to the State Civil Service will forever be remembered,” the statement read.

Dr. Ode served as Head of Service until his death and was considered a central figure in the implementation of public service reforms in Benue State.
 His tenure was marked by efforts aimed at improving administrative efficiency and institutional capacity within the civil service.

The government extended its condolences to his family, friends, and associates, as well as members of the state civil service, while praying for the repose of his soul.
