Benue Links Nigeria Limited has clarified the circumstances surrounding a passenger who died while travelling on one of the company's buses, stating that efforts to contact the deceased's relatives through the information provided were initially unsuccessful.

The company said it later resorted to social media appeals to locate the family and has since established contact, while also facilitating the transportation and preservation of the deceased's remains pending burial arrangements.

Benue Links Nigeria Limited has provided further details regarding the case of a passenger who died while travelling aboard one of its buses, addressing public concerns about efforts made to locate the deceased's family.

In a statement issued by the company's management, Benue Links said the contact information provided by the passenger for relatives could not be reached despite several attempts by the company. According to the statement, this challenge led management to seek public assistance through social media platforms in order to identify and contact family members.

The company announced that the deceased passenger's family has now been successfully located and informed.

Benue Links further stated that it facilitated the transportation of the deceased's remains to Korinya, the hometown of the deceased. The company added that the body was deposited in a morgue and that all associated morgue fees were paid pending burial arrangements to be determined by the family.

Management expressed appreciation to members of the public for their concern, support and cooperation during the process.

The company also reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare, dignity and respectful treatment of its passengers and customers.

While the company's statement provides details of the actions it says were taken following the passenger's death, no additional information was provided regarding the cause of death, the passenger's identity, or the circumstances that led to the medical emergency during the journey.
