Former APC Benue South senatorial candidate Daniel Onjeh has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to evaluate Governor Hyacinth Alia based on his performance in office rather than what he described as political propaganda. Onjeh said his appeal comes despite his dissatisfaction with the outcome of the APC primary election, insisting that Benue's interest should take precedence over personal grievances.

Former APC Benue South senatorial candidate Daniel Onjeh has called on President Bola Tinubu to assess Hyacinth Alia based on his performance in office rather than political narratives and misinformation.

Onjeh stated that although he believes he was treated unfairly during the recent APC primary election, his personal disappointment should not outweigh the broader interests of Benue State.

According to him, he campaigned alongside Governor Alia during the 2023 general elections and believes the governor's reputation as a Catholic priest contributed significantly to the APC's electoral success in Benue by reassuring many Christian voters.

He further argued that Governor Alia's transition from the priesthood into politics may explain some of his political style but should not be interpreted as poor leadership or disrespect toward political stakeholders.

Onjeh also claimed that while some political actors are attempting to weaken the governor through media campaigns and political pressure, many residents of Benue are more concerned about governance issues such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, payment of salaries, and development.

He maintained that Governor Alia continues to enjoy substantial grassroots support and expressed confidence that the governor could prevail in any lawful APC governorship nomination process.

Onjeh concluded by urging President Tinubu to consider Governor Alia's performance, contributions to the APC, and the views of Benue residents rather than political lobbying or personal interests.
