Residents of Gangare community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State gathered in mourning to bury loved ones reportedly killed during recent attacks in the area.

The incident has sparked renewed concerns over insecurity in parts of Plateau State, as community members called for stronger security measures and protection for vulnerable communities.

Fresh sorrow has enveloped Gangare community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State following the burial of residents reportedly killed in recent attacks by suspected armed militia.

Families, sympathisers, and community members gathered in large numbers to pay their final respects to the victims during burial ceremonies held in the community.

Witnesses said mourners were visibly emotional as victims were laid to rest amid grief and calls for urgent government intervention to address recurring violence in the area.

Although details surrounding the attacks remain unclear, residents alleged that the assailants were suspected Fulani militia operating around affected communities.
However, security authorities had yet to officially confirm the identities of those responsible as of the time of filing this report.

Community leaders and residents reportedly appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts toward restoring peace and preventing further attacks across Barkin Ladi and neighbouring communities.

The latest incident adds to growing concerns over repeated cases of violence and killings recorded in parts of Plateau State in recent years, particularly in rural communities affected by communal and security-related conflicts.

Authorities are yet to release an official casualty figure or detailed statement regarding the reported attacks.
