A woman from Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State has reportedly died after delivering triplets through a cesarean section at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Apir in Makurdi. The babies, who were born prematurely, are currently receiving specialized neonatal care in incubators.

According to reports, the woman was initially managed at a hospital in Gboko before her condition worsened, necessitating her transfer to FMC Apir, where she later died from complications.

A family in Benue State has been thrown into mourning following the death of a woman who reportedly passed away shortly after delivering triplets at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Apir in Makurdi.

Sources familiar with the incident said the woman, a resident of Gboko, gave birth to the three babies through a cesarean section after experiencing complications associated with the pregnancy.

The newborns were reportedly delivered prematurely and required specialized medical attention immediately after birth.

According to available information, the mother was initially receiving treatment at a hospital in Gboko. However, her condition reportedly deteriorated, prompting medical personnel to refer her to FMC Apir for advanced care.

Despite efforts by healthcare workers, she reportedly succumbed to complications on Monday morning.
The three infants survived the delivery and are currently being cared for in incubators under medical supervision.

The incident has renewed discussions about maternal health challenges, emergency obstetric care, and the risks associated with complicated pregnancies and multiple births.

Health experts have consistently emphasized the importance of quality antenatal care, timely referrals, and access to specialized maternal and neonatal healthcare services in reducing maternal and infant mortality.
