A prospective corps member, Gift David Samiya, has been abducted while travelling to his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Maiduguri, Borno State. The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, along the Akwanga–Jos highway.

His family says the kidnappers have since contacted them, demanding a ransom of N10 million for his release.

A prospective corps member, Gift David Samiya, has been kidnapped along the Akwanga–Jos highway while travelling to his NYSC orientation camp in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Samiya, a graduate of the University of Maiduguri and an indigene of Obi Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, was reportedly abducted on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, while travelling from Lafia en route to his service destination.

The incident was confirmed by his brother, Lawrence David, who said the family was thrown into panic following the abduction.

According to him, the abductors later made contact with a family member and demanded a ransom of N10 million for his release.

Details surrounding the circumstances of the kidnapping remain unclear, and it is not yet confirmed whether security agencies have been formally briefed or if rescue operations have commenced.

The Akwanga–Jos highway has, in recent years, witnessed recurring cases of abductions and armed attacks, raising concerns among travellers and residents who rely on the route.
