A Benue-based content creator, Don Wagzy Mo'mennn, has alleged that he was briefly detained by officers of the Nigeria Police after telling an officer that he did not yet have money in life.
The incident, which he later narrated on social media, has triggered widespread reactions among residents and online users who questioned the circumstances surrounding the alleged arrest.
According to the content creator, the encounter occurred when a police officer reportedly asked him whether he had money. He said he responded that he did not have money yet in life, adding that what he had gained so far was popularity rather than wealth.
He alleged that the response angered the officer, who then ordered that he be taken back into a detention cell.
Don Wagzy claimed he remained in custody for about an hour before some officers allegedly intervened and advised him to apologise to the officer so he could regain his freedom.
He further alleged that during the period of detention, his request to access his phone to make a call was denied.
Eventually, he said he apologised and was released.
The claim has since sparked debate on social media, with many Nigerians raising concerns about alleged harassment and abuse of authority by security personnel. Calls have also emerged for clarification from the police regarding the incident.
