A cleric, Revd Fr Moses Iorpev Igbudu, has publicly denied allegations of impersonation and fraudulent activities, clarifying that he is not a priest of the Roman Catholic Church but serves under the Ecumenical Orthodox Catholic Church Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Igbudu, also known as “Fr Tseseer,” said concerns had been raised about his identity and ministry. He noted that the allegations had created confusion among members of the public regarding his clerical status.
The priest explained that he belongs to the Ecumenical Orthodox Catholic Church Nigeria under St Peter’s Catholic Diocese, Agwa, and currently serves at St James Parish, Tsumba, Benue State
He stressed that he has never presented himself as a Roman Catholic priest, adding that his church permits both married and celibate clergy, and he has chosen celibacy.
Igbudu also dismissed claims that he charges money for house blessings or related services. According to him, individuals requesting home visits are only expected to assist with transportation.
“I’m not a priest of the Roman Catholic Church, and I have never introduced myself as one,” he said.
“I don’t collect money for blessings. If you invite me, you only help with logistics.”
He further revealed that a prior dispute involving another cleric had been reported to the police but was amicably resolved.
“Anyone who calls me an impersonator should be ready to meet me in court,” he added.
