The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun the public display of the Preliminary Register of Voters in Katsina-Ala, as part of efforts to ensure transparency and accuracy in Nigeria’s electoral process.
According to an official public notice issued by the Office of the Special Assistant on Communication and Digital Economy to the Executive Chairman of Katsina-Ala Local Government Council, the register is available for inspection at the INEC Local Government Area office located along Police Headquarters Road.
The notice advised residents who participated in the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which ended on April 17, 2026, to visit the office and confirm that their personal details have been correctly captured. It noted that the verification window provides an opportunity for eligible voters to identify and correct errors or omissions before the final register is produced.
The council’s communication office emphasised that public participation in the verification process is essential to maintaining the credibility of the voters’ register and ensuring a smooth electoral process.
The display of the preliminary register is a standard procedure conducted by INEC after each CVR exercise, forming part of broader efforts to strengthen electoral integrity and public confidence in the system.
INEC further disclosed that the next phase of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise is scheduled to commence on May 4, 2026, offering another opportunity for eligible citizens to register or update their voter information.
