Kuwait has temporarily suspended the issuance of commercial visit visas for all nationalities, effectively halting new short-term business travel into the country. The decision affects professionals and companies relying on the visa category for meetings, conferences, and contract-related engagements.

Authorities have not provided an official explanation or timeline for when the suspension may be lifted.

Kuwait has imposed an immediate suspension on commercial visit visa applications, a move that affects foreign nationals across multiple countries, including Nigeria.

The visa category is commonly used by business travelers for short-term professional purposes such as corporate meetings, seminars, client engagements, and contract negotiations. It is typically issued on a single-entry basis and valid for up to 30 days.

With the new directive, applications under this category will no longer be processed until further notice. This effectively disrupts scheduled business trips and corporate exchanges involving Kuwaiti-based companies and their international partners.

According to reporting referenced by immigration consultancy Fragomen, Kuwaiti authorities have not issued a formal explanation for the decision. No timeline has been provided for when or whether the suspension will be lifted.

The development places businesses in a holding pattern, with companies now expected to reconsider travel plans, explore remote alternatives, or postpone engagements that require physical presence in Kuwait.

Travel and immigration observers advise affected applicants and organisations to closely monitor official updates from Kuwaiti authorities as the situation develops.
