Political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections are gathering pace in Benue State, as several grassroots groups have declared support for Eunice Ortom’s potential Senate bid.
The groups, drawn from across Zone B, have also pledged to fund her nomination process.

The build-up to the 2027 general elections in Benue State is beginning to take shape, with emerging political alignments in Zone B pointing to early mobilisation efforts.

No fewer than ten support groups, comprising youths, women, former aides, and community-based organisations, have reportedly thrown their weight behind Eunice Ortom for the Benue Zone B senatorial seat.

The groups are said to include Jemgbagh PDP youths, former aides of Samuel Ortom, Nongov youths, Ityoshin sisters and youths, classmates’ associations, Lobi sisters, Makurdi and Guma PDP youths, as well as market women and widows across the zone.

According to sources within the groups, there are ongoing plans to collectively purchase the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nomination forms and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) documentation required for her candidacy.

Supporters describe the move as a demonstration of grassroots confidence and a signal of growing political momentum within the zone.

While Eunice Ortom has yet to make an official declaration, political observers note that early endorsements of this nature often shape the dynamics of party primaries and influence broader electoral strategies.

Zone B, which includes key local government areas such as Makurdi and Guma, remains a critical political bloc in Benue State, with heightened interest expected as the 2027 elections draw closer.
