A father identified as Baba Lara has reportedly been rescued after being abducted alongside his two children in the Isaba axis of Odo-Ere, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According to information provided to Benue Info-pedia, the reported rescue followed a follow-up operation involving troops of the Nigerian Army's 12 Brigade and local vigilantes.
The two children, identified as Sunday and Lara, are reportedly still in the custody of the kidnappers, while security personnel and local vigilantes continue efforts to locate and rescue them.
The reported abduction occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, around the Library area of the Isaba axis of Odo-Ere.
The attackers were reportedly armed but did not fire any shots during the operation before taking the victims away.
Residents quoted in the account said the same location had previously experienced a kidnapping incident, raising renewed concerns about the security situation in the community.
The reported incident comes amid continuing concerns over kidnapping in parts of Yagba West. Earlier in the year, troops of the 12 Brigade were involved in several operations across Yagba West and neighbouring areas, including search-and-rescue missions involving kidnapped victims. In December 2025, the brigade reported rescuing six victims within the Ejiba and Saminaka forest axis spanning Yagba East and Yagba West.
In June 2026, the brigade also reported rescuing five kidnapped victims in a Lokoja operation, demonstrating the military formation's continuing counter-kidnapping activities across Kogi State.
Benue Info-pedia has not independently established the circumstances of the reported August 6 abduction or confirmed the identities of the victims through an official statement from the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Yagba West authorities or the victims' family.
The reported rescue of Baba Lara and the ongoing search for Sunday and Lara therefore remain subject to further confirmation.
Benue Info-pedia will update this report if credible official information becomes available.
