Three students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) were abducted by unidentified gunmen from their off-campus residence in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Tuesday night. The Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the incident, saying one of the victims has been rescued while security operatives continue efforts to secure the release of the remaining students.

The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of three students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) by unidentified gunmen.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the incident occurred at about 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday when the students were abducted from their off-campus lodge.

The command said the university's Chief Security Officer reported the incident, prompting an immediate deployment of security personnel and a coordinated search operation in nearby forests.

Police confirmed that one of the abducted students has since been rescued through the operation.
The spokesperson added that security agencies are intensifying efforts to rescue the remaining victims in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed.

The incident comes barely two months after six engineering students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, were abducted from an off-campus residence in Gudi, Akwanga Local Government Area. Those students were later released after spending several days in captivity.

The latest abduction has renewed concerns over the security of students residing in off-campus accommodations and the need for stronger protective measures around tertiary institutions.
