The Oyo State Police Command has denied viral reports alleging that an abducted schoolchild in the Ahoro-Esiele area of Oriire Local Government, Oyo State, has died in captivity. The Command described the claim as false and misleading. Officials say rescue operations are still ongoing.

The Oyo State Police Command has debunked reports circulating on social media and online platforms claiming that one of the schoolchildren abducted in Ahoro-Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has died while in captivity.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the police described the report as false, misleading, and without any factual basis.

According to the statement, no security agency involved in the ongoing rescue operation has confirmed any such development. The Command stressed that all information suggesting the death of any abducted child is unverified and should be disregarded.

“The publication is a fabrication carefully crafted by individuals whose objective is to arouse unnecessary public sentiment, create panic, spread fear, and undermine ongoing security operations,” the statement read.

Authorities further explained that coordinated efforts by security agencies remain active in response to the abduction incident. They noted that operational details are being handled with professionalism and confidentiality to ensure the safety of the victims.

The police also issued a strong warning to bloggers, social media influencers, and online publishers, urging them to avoid spreading unverified information, particularly on sensitive security matters.

The Command emphasized that the indiscriminate circulation of false reports could incite fear, disrupt public order, and interfere with ongoing rescue efforts.

The incident in Ahoro-Esiele continues to draw public attention as security agencies work to secure the safe release of the abducted schoolchildren.
