The Ogun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the deaths of retired broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard after both were discovered dead at her residence in Abeokuta.
According to police authorities, the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday in the Kobape area of the Ogun State capital.
The case was reported to the Owode Egba Police Division after a resident of Iyana Agodo Village raised concerns about suspicious activity around the property.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said detectives were immediately deployed to the scene following the report.
A preliminary assessment reportedly revealed signs of forced entry and disturbance within the premises.
Investigators discovered the body of the security guard inside the security post, while Oyesiku's body was later found inside the main apartment.
Police also confirmed that the victim's vehicle was missing from the residence when officers arrived.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has directed a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
According to the police spokesperson, surveillance and intelligence-led operations have been expanded across relevant locations as investigators work to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The police appealed to residents to remain calm while providing useful information that may assist ongoing investigations.
The Command also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased, members of the Ogun State Television community, media practitioners, and others affected by the incident.
