Residents of Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory were thrown into shock on Saturday after the decomposing body of an unidentified woman was discovered inside an uncompleted building. The victim was found beheaded, while police have commenced investigations to determine her identity and the circumstances surrounding her death.

A suspected murder case has sparked concern among residents of Bwari in the Federal Capital Territory after the body of an unidentified middle-aged woman was found inside an abandoned building.

According to residents, the discovery was made after a strong offensive odour emanating from the structure attracted attention from people living nearby.

Community members who entered the building reportedly found the woman's decomposing body without her head and immediately alerted others before contacting security authorities.

One resident, who requested anonymity, said the condition of the body suggested the victim may have been dead for several days before she was discovered.

“The offensive smell coming from the building attracted the attention of people living nearby. When we entered the building, we found the woman’s body without her head,” the resident said.

Some residents alleged that evidence found at the scene indicated the victim may have been restrained before she was killed. They claimed ropes were found around the body and that a blanket believed to have been used to transport the corpse was also recovered.

Another resident said bruises allegedly observed on the victim’s limbs suggested she may have struggled before her death. However, these claims have not been independently verified.

A resident identified as Ibrahim Dogo also claimed bloodstains were visible in one of the rooms within the uncompleted building and that a blood-soaked blanket was recovered from the scene.

He further speculated that the woman may have been lured to the location before the attack, although no official evidence has been presented to support that claim.

Police officers from the Bwari Divisional Police Headquarters later arrived at the scene and evacuated the body.

A police officer, who was not authorised to speak publicly, confirmed that the division received a distress call from a resident on Saturday afternoon regarding the discovery.

According to the officer, the body was taken to Bwari General Hospital while investigators work to establish the identity of the victim and determine how the killing occurred.

The incident has heightened concerns among residents about security in the area, with community members calling for increased surveillance and policing.
