The Nigeria Police Force says it has made a major breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of Bishop Chinedu Clarence James following the recovery of his stolen Toyota Land Cruiser and the arrest of two suspects in Anambra State.

Police authorities said the suspects were apprehended during an intelligence-led operation while allegedly attempting to sell the vehicle in Onitsha after the bishop’s abduction and killing in Delta State.

The Nigeria Police Force has announced the recovery of the Toyota Land Cruiser belonging to slain Bishop Chinedu Clarence James and the arrest of two suspects allegedly connected to the crime.

According to police authorities, the breakthrough was achieved through a coordinated intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives of the Anambra State Police Command following credible information that the stolen vehicle was being moved to Onitsha for sale.

The operation was reportedly conducted on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, as officers tracked and intercepted the suspects during the attempted transaction.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects allegedly contacted his cousin in Onitsha to help secure a buyer for the vehicle shortly after Bishop Chinedu Clarence James was abducted and murdered in Delta State on May 12.

Police confirmed that the suspects were arrested at the point of sale, while the Toyota Land Cruiser was recovered and secured as evidence for further investigation.

The Force added that investigations have intensified to uncover and dismantle the wider criminal syndicate allegedly responsible for the kidnapping, murder, and attempted disposal of the vehicle.

The killing of the bishop has continued to attract public concern, particularly among religious communities and residents demanding justice and improved security measures.

Police authorities say further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
