The Catholic Diocese of Katsina-Ala has officially appointed Rev. Fr. Tyongi Gerald Ter as the Principal of Divine Love Catholic Girls’ Secondary School, Katsina-Ala.

The appointment was made by the Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev. Isaac Bundepuun Dugu, and formally presented on May 4, 2026.

According to the Diocese, the Chairman of the Diocesan Education Committee, Rev. Fr. Dr. Moses Tyosenda, alongside the Director of Catholic Education Services, Rev. Fr. Peter Abiem, presented the new principal to staff and students on behalf of the Bishop.

Rev. Fr. Tyongi Gerald Ter succeeds Mrs. Anne Adejor, Ph.D., who reportedly served as principal of the school from 2019 to 2026, completing seven years of leadership.

Fr. Tyongi’s academic and pastoral background spans several years of formation and service. He began his education at Glory Nursery/Primary School, GRA Gboko, before proceeding to St. James Minor Seminary, Yandev-Gboko, where he obtained his West African Examinations Council (GCE) certificate in 2008.

He later studied Philosophy and Theology at St. Thomas Aquinas’ Major Seminary, Makurdi, earning both degrees between 2013 and 2018. He further obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Mkar (2019–2020) and a Master’s degree in Educational Management from Veritas University, Abuja in 2025.

Ordained on July 7, 2019, Fr. Tyongi has served in several pastoral and educational roles, including Assistant Priest at St. Paul’s Parish, Kyado, and Acting School Administrator at St. Paul’s Catholic Secondary School. He also served as Chaplain and Teacher at Government Secondary School, Gboko, during his missionary assignment.

In January 2026, he was appointed School Administrator of Divine Love Catholic Girls’ Secondary School before his confirmation as substantive Principal in May 2026.

According to diocesan sources, this marks a historic moment, as Rev. Fr. Tyongi becomes the first Catholic priest to serve as Principal of the school since its establishment over 45 years ago.
