A sociopolitical group, Sankera Alliance for Suswam (SAS), has purchased the 2027 Senate nomination and expression of interest forms for former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam. The presentation took place at his residence in Makurdi.
The group says the move reflects its confidence in Suswam’s experience and capacity to represent Benue North-East Senatorial District.

A youth-based sociopolitical organisation, Sankera Alliance for Suswam (SAS), has purchased the 2027 Senate nomination and expression of interest forms for former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam.

The forms were presented on Saturday at his residence in Makurdi by members of the group’s Central Executive Committee, led by Comrade Asongo Terhemen.

Speaking during the presentation, Terhemen said the decision to support Suswam was based on his political experience and track record. He noted that Suswam had previously served as a member of the House of Representatives for eight years, governor of Benue State for eight years, and later as a senator.

According to him, the group considers Suswam “a capable hand” for Benue North-East Senatorial District, also known as Zone ‘A’.

The group further stated that its action was driven by what it described as the need for experienced representation and continuity in legislative advocacy for the zone.

In what was described as a symbolic process, the forms were reportedly passed through local government party chairmen in Sankera, then to community elders, and subsequently to representatives from Jechira and Kwande before being formally presented to the senator.

Responding, Suswam expressed appreciation to the group, describing the gesture as commendable. He praised members of the alliance as focused youths and encouraged constructive political participation.

He also assured the delegation of his willingness to continue serving the people of Benue North-East Senatorial District if given the mandate in 2027.
