Governor Hyacinth Alia says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic reforms are translating into measurable development across Benue State. Addressing the Presidential State House Press Corps, the governor highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, investments in education and agriculture, security interventions, and improvements in workers' welfare as evidence of progress.

Governor Hyacinth Alia has presented what his administration describes as key development achievements in Benue State, attributing the progress to the implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic reforms.

Speaking while addressing the Presidential State House Press Corps, the governor said the reforms have enabled the state to undertake major infrastructure, education, agriculture, healthcare, and security projects aimed at improving the lives of residents.

According to Alia, more than 550 kilometres of roads are undergoing construction and rehabilitation across the state, with several projects already completed.

He also highlighted the construction of Benue's first underpasses and flyovers in Makurdi and Gboko, adding that Otukpo is expected to benefit from similar infrastructure.

The governor further announced the establishment of the University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ihugh, describing it as an investment in higher education and human capital development.

In the basic education sector, Alia said more than 422 new and reconstructed schools have been delivered across Benue's 23 Local Government Areas, including multi-storey classroom buildings.

On industrial development, he cited the construction of Food Basket Breweries, producers of Zeva Premium Beer, Zeva Malt, and Oyi Bitters, alongside the revival of the Bensono Juice and Concentrate Factory and ongoing efforts to revive Taraku Mills.

The governor also pointed to increased investments in agriculture, healthcare, and rural development, saying these initiatives are designed to improve food production, healthcare delivery, and economic opportunities.

Addressing security, Alia disclosed that the state has procured over 120 Hilux vehicles, 620 motorcycles, and six patrol boats to strengthen security operations.

On workers' welfare, he said the administration is implementing a ₦75,000 minimum wage, paying salaries consistently, and gradually clearing inherited pension and gratuity arrears.

He added that government support for farmers has expanded, healthcare services have improved, and policies aimed at attracting investment and creating employment opportunities are being pursued.

The governor reaffirmed his administration's commitment to transparency, accountability, prudent management of public resources, and ensuring that government spending delivers measurable benefits to the people of Benue State.
