The Vice-Chancellor of Reverend Father Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, Prof. Timothy Terseer Alabar, has paid a courtesy visit to the Ochi Idoma, His Royal Majesty Agabaidu John Elaigwu, in a move aimed at strengthening collaboration between academia and traditional institutions.
The visit, held recently in Idoma land, focused on promoting education, cultural preservation, and community development through closer institutional ties.
In his remarks, the Ochi Idoma commended the university’s commitment to academic excellence and national development. He stressed the need for higher institutions to remain rooted in the cultural values of their host communities.
According to the royal father, sustainable progress can only be achieved when education aligns with tradition and heritage.
Prof. Alabar, in his response, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and acknowledged the monarch’s role in preserving the unity and cultural identity of the Idoma people.
He reaffirmed the university’s readiness to build partnerships that will drive research, youth empowerment, and initiatives to improve community welfare.
The meeting underscored the growing importance of synergy between educational institutions and traditional leadership in fostering inclusive development and preserving cultural identity.
