The Kwara State Police Command says it has achieved significant breakthroughs in its fight against crime with the arrest of 11 suspects allegedly involved in kidnapping and armed robbery activities across the state. The arrests followed intelligence-led operations conducted by the command's Anti-Kidnapping Squad and other tactical units.
Kwara State Police Command has announced the arrest of 11 suspects allegedly linked to kidnapping and armed robbery operations across the state in what authorities describe as a major success in ongoing efforts to combat violent crime.
According to a statement issued on June 9, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the arrests were made during a series of intelligence-led operations conducted by operatives of the command.
The police said the Anti-Kidnapping Squad launched a coordinated operation on May 28, 2026, following the reported abduction of a resident in the Agbeyangi area of Ilorin.
Authorities disclosed that the operation led to the arrest of several suspects believed to be connected to kidnapping activities, while separate operations resulted in the arrest of additional suspects allegedly involved in armed robbery.
Police also reported the recovery of firearms and a stolen motorcycle during the operations.
The command described the arrests as part of its sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks and improve public safety across Kwara State.
While the police have announced the arrests, details regarding the identities of the suspects, the specific charges they may face, and the status of ongoing investigations were not immediately available.
The command urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies, stressing that community cooperation remains critical in addressing security challenges and preventing crime.
