The Tiv Unity and Peace Initiative (TUPI) has appointed Very Rev. Fr. Solomon Ukeyima Mfa Tivdoo, Parish Priest of St. Mark's Parish, Apir, as a member of its Advisory Council.
The appointment was announced during a courtesy visit by the organization on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, led by its National President, Comrade Washima Harris Tersoo.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Harris praised Fr. Mfa for his sustained efforts in promoting peace and unity through the annual Kyegh Sha Shwa (KSS) Festival, describing the event as a platform that brings together Tiv sons and daughters regardless of political affiliation.
He encouraged the cleric to continue championing initiatives that promote reconciliation and social cohesion, noting that such efforts remain important amid the security and social challenges facing many communities across Tiv land.
The delegation expressed concern over the prevailing insecurity in the area and argued that politics, rather than serving as a vehicle for development, has increasingly contributed to division. According to the group, lasting peace will require stronger collaboration among political leaders, traditional institutions, religious leaders, youths, and other stakeholders.
Responding, Very Rev. Fr. Mfa welcomed the appointment and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting TUPI's non-partisan mission of promoting peace and unity. He expressed optimism that Tiv leaders would embrace greater cooperation in the collective interest of the people.
He added that the progress and development of Tiv land remain a shared responsibility requiring unity of purpose.
Other members of the delegation, including Joseph Akaachii, Martene Num, and Adom Degans, also commended Fr. Mfa for his commitment to youth development and initiatives aimed at strengthening unity within the Tiv community.
The visit marks another effort by TUPI to engage influential community stakeholders in promoting dialogue, peace-building, and sustainable development across Tiv land.
